About Phil Cooke

Phil Cooke has given wine tastings and courses in Bath since 1999, including Community courses at the University of Bath.  With over 25 years experience in giving wine tastings  he holds all the wine trade qualifications to Diploma level. He is also an experienced scientist, lecturer, and author. The wine courses have proved very popular  perhaps because they include guidance on how to taste, insights into the history of wine as well as how it is produced, the grape varieties, the wine regions, and many other such topics. As an elected Member of The Association of Wine Educators he keeps up to date by visiting wine regions at the invitation of the wine producers. In 2007 he qualified as an accredited International Bordeaux Wine Educator.
In addition to his regular courses he also gives wine talks and tastings to charities, societies, and clubs. In 2000 he founded the Bath Wine Appreciation Circle, which  meets monthly in central Bath, where interesting wines are tasted in a sociable environment, accompanied by quality breads and cheeses.
