This course will appeal to anyone who wants to become more adventurous and confident when choosing wine. The course starts with exploring how to taste and describe wine. Topics include:

Grape varieties
Wine making
The role of oak
Terroir: why some vineyards are very special
Vineyards, and sustainable agriculture
How to read a wine label
Sparkling wine
Fortified wine

The history of wine
Wine and food matching
Choosing wine to suit the occaision
Late harvest wines
Storing & maturing wine
Wine maps


Each evening will there will be an illustrated talk, followed by a discussion and a tutored tasting

The course will enable wine to be chosen with enhanced confidence and knowledge of the contribution of wine making, grape varieties, and region of origin.
